Cannes Film Festival

The Cannes Film Festival started yesterday in beautiful Cannes, France and will run until the 26th of May. This is a prestigious festival and we are going to do our best to keep you updated about the films you want to know about!

The festival opened with a viewing of ‘The Great Gatsby’ and we know it was a truly wonderful way to kick off a beautiful event!

There are quite a few films set to show at the festival that we are truly excited about! ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ is set to get some screening time. At this current time, we are unsure if the film will be shown in it’s entirety or if a sneak peek will be screened. On hand for the screening are cast members including Jennifer Lawrence.

‘The Bling Ring’, the latest Sofia Coppola film, will open Un Certain Regard today. This portion of the festival is dedicated to highlighting young innovative film makers delivering original films with ‘a certain glance or particular outlook.’ The film is set for a theatrical release of June 14th.

‘As I Lay Dying’, a film based on the William Faulkner novel, is getting it’s first major viewing at the festival. Directed, written by and starring James Franco, star of ‘Disney’s Oz The Great and Powerful,’ this film tells the story of a family and their turmoil-filled journey as they bring their mother to her gravesite. We are pleased to see Franco taking multiple roles in this film.

We are also pleased to announce Steven Soderbergh’s ‘Behind the Candelabra.’ Bringing together an all star cast including Michael Douglas, Matt Damon, Dan Aykroyd and Rob Lowe, this film will tell the gripping story of the famed Liberace. We are excited to get updates about this project as they become available!

We hope you’ll stick with us for all your latest news on the Cannes Film Festival!
